Frame Technology

SPT (SINGLE PIVOT TECH) PLATFORM

When Apollo designed its 100mm travel suspension system we focused on four key criteria that we believe are fundamental in creating a short travel suspension frame. Our design had to be a lightweight, stiff, and efficient frame platform and ultimately we wanted it to be reliable and most of all enjoyable to ride. We chose the single pivot platform as the basis for achieving these goals as this platform achieves the balance of these key objectives.

STIFF

Fewer bearings and contact surfaces result in fewer parts that can flex and wear. Oversized sealed bearings, asymmetrical rear stays and an oversized, reinforced seat tube all contribute to the rigid feel of the frame.

EFFICIENT

Single pivot designs require fewer heavy frame lugs. We only use triple butted 6061 and A4 ultra light weight alloys and carbon fibres in the construction of our frames.

LIGHT

Our single pivot frame offers very predictable travel through its range of motion, especially important under heavy braking and descending. The rear shock is custom tuned to manage the rate of shock uptake hence reducing pedal induced bobbing.

RELIABLE

The Apollo SPT system requires fewer linkages and contact points. There are fewer parts that need maintenance. The system relies on the large precision sealed bearing and utlilises the capabilities of the shock to provide an extremely smooth range of travel.
